WEG solution on a ship for the safe transport of oil
With equipment for the most diverse applications, WEG has integrated solutions for the naval segment. They are state-of-the-art, reliable, efficient, flexible and technological products and services. In addition, it has alternatives that help in the sustainability of the client’s business. It was with this objective in mind that WEG participated in the design of an oil tanker designed by Agemar, a company specialized in highly complex logistics operations, which developed a ship with the objective of ensuring greater safety in fuel transport.
The ship has a double bottom and side and in case of leakage, the fuel is inside the second hull, protecting the environment and ensuring transport and supply process even more safe. The ship also has modern navigation instruments and certifications issued by international entities. With 40 meters long, it has the capacity to transport 440 thousand liters.
For this oil tanker, WEG has supplied two synchronous alternators of the GTK line, frame 280, 90 kVA, responsible for generating energy for the entire ship. They are special equipment, with IP56 degree of protection, developed for aggressive environments, where the product robustness and quality are determining factors for the application. With cast iron frame, it guarantees protection against weather and corrosion, ensuring longer life for the alternators.
WEG supplies vegetable oil transformer for environment protection
Transformers insulated with vegetable oil are biodegradable and offer major benefits such as increasing the equipment lifetime and minimizing environmental impacts.
The company Power Engenharia, which is dedicated to provide engineering projects and services, just acquired a 5 / 6.25 MVA 69CST / 13.8 kV vegetable oil transformer to be installed at Bomix´s manufacturing facilities in Simão Filho, state of Bahia.
This supply is very important for us, as it an evidence of WEG´s commitment and responsibility to the environment protection.
Scheduled to be delivered in June 2021, the transformer will be used by Bomix, a company that stands out in the injected and blown packaging industrial sector. The equipment was designed with compact size to allow easier installation.
Regarded as an excellent solution, the equipment will play a very important role in the plant’s substation, operating as a step-down transformer.
WEG supplies a big package of electric motors to the largest oil and gas production platform in Brazil
WEG will be supplying about 40 MV electric motors with rated output up to 13,400 kW, over 100 LV electric motors and five MV variable speed drives (three of them with 11,723 kW rated output) for the largest oil and gas platform in Brazil.
These products, which are already being produced at the WEG manufacturing site located in Jaraguá do Sul/SC, Brazil, will be supplied through compressor and pump manufacturers from Europe and Asia, and will be driving these machineries at Bacalhau oilfield.
Designed for the Santos Basin pre-salt and with the first oil production scheduled between 2023/2024, the new platform will have a production capacity of 220,000 barrels of oil per day and 15 million m³ per day of natural gas.
In the last decade WEG has consolidated itself as the world’s largest supplier of electric motors for oil and gas FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) platforms, mainly due to the high technology used in its products and high operating reliability.
